Labeling My Baby

Last week I read Hillary's blog about labeling her children and it got me thinking, what do I label Calvin as?

When Calvin was first born Dave and I talked non stop about who Calvin looked most like. When he was a week old we came to the conclusion that he had my upper lip, David's bottom lip, my eyes, David's Norwegian thighs, my butt chin and without a doubt David's huge perfect head. As time goes by it gets harder and harder to see whether Calvin resembles Dave or myself. Every once in a while he makes a face that will totally remind me of Dave or someone will mention he has my eyes but for the most part Calvin is all his own.

Calvin's personality is also one of a kind. Unlike his crazy father and his gooberish mother, Calvin is surprisingly cool. Yes, that's right at the young age of 8 months we can already tell that our son is cool.

If I were to label Calvin I would say he is without a doubt, Tommy Pickles. Who is Tommy Pickles you ask? Only one of the greatest characters ever from my all time favorite cartoon, Rugrats!

Just like Tommy Pickles Calvin is courageous, adventurous, daring, brave, a friend to all, and bald. Calvin loves tinkering with toys and if I put a screwdriver in his crib I swear he would know how to loosen all the screws and escape! My friend Bethany and I always joke about how "advanced" Calvin is but inside we aren't joking, we really think he is advanced. (what mom doesn't think their child is advanced:) Calvin can already stand on his own for about 5 seconds, pull up on anything, crawl, wave bye bye and hi, has eight teeth, smiles for the camera and uses a sippy cup. The only area Calvin is seriously behind is in the area of hair but his baldness is just another reason why he is so Tommy Pickles. Tommy Pickles also struggled with baby pattern baldness but he didn't let that get in his way and neither will Calvin.

Watching Calvin getting old isn't always the easiest thing but watching him grow up is so much fun.
